Latest Examination News

Wednesday 19 June 2019: The final Inspectors Report has been received, and has been published as INSP.17 below. The Inspector has concluded that the Local Plan is sound, subject to a number of main modifications. The full National Park Authority will consider whether to adopt the Local Plan together with the Inspector’s recommended main modifications on the 2 July 2019.

Friday 26th April 2019: The full representations to the Main Modifications has now been published. See the Main Modifications webpage for further details.

Tuesday 23rd April 2019: The Main Modifications Consultation closed on 28th March. The SDNPA has forwarded all duly made responses to the Programme Officer, and they have in turn been forwarded to the Inspector.  The SDNPA has produced a Main Modifications Report which summarieses and responds to comments made on the main mods. Friday 15th February 2019: The Minor Edits to the Local Plan have been updated. See the Main Modifications webpage for further details (you will need to scroll down to the Minor Edits section).

Thursday 31st January 2019:  Consultation is underway from 00:00 (midnight) Friday 01 February 2019 until 23:59 on Thursday 28 March 2019  on the Main Modifications to the Local Plan. See the Main Modifications webpage for further details.

Thursday 13th December 2018: The hearings for the Local Plan have now ended. This  webpage will be updated with further news in the new year.

    Examination Inspector and Programme Officer

    Inspector Brian Sims BSc CEng MICE MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the South Downs Local Plan is sound.

    The Examination Process

    Hearing Sessions and Statements

    A series of public hearings conducted by the Inspector have now taken place for the examination of the Local Plan. These took place at the South Downs Centre, Midhurst and in the Amex Stadium, Falmer.

    Some participants in the examination have submitted appendices and further evidence that does not form part of the body of their position statements. As this does not comply with the Inspector’s guidelines as set out in INSP.3, they are published separately and are not considered to play a formal part in the examination. Nevertheless in the interests of transparency, they are published below for information.
