East Sussex County Council has been given the go-ahead by the Department of Food Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to transfer the Seven Sisters County Park site to the South Downs National Park Authority.

This now means the legal process can begin to complete the transfer of ownership, which is expected to be completed in the early part of 2021.

The site will remain in public ownership and the Authority has pledged an initial investment of just under £2 million to improve habitats on site and creating a world-class visitor centre.

The Authority is not expected to take full ownership of Seven Sisters Country Park before 2021.
