Arundel Neighbourhood Plan

Arundel Town Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Arundel.  Further details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Arundel Town Council website.

The Arundel NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the Arun District Council’s decision on 30 April 2014 and the   SDNPA Planning committee resolution on 12 June 2014 has been made.

The Arundel NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 14 March 2013.

The made Arundel NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

  • Bognor Regis Town Hall, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 1LD
Referendum A referendum was held on the Arundel NDP on 8 April 2014. For more information on the referendum visit Arun District Council’s Referendum page.

There was a 26.6% turnout, with the following results

  • Yes = 90.4% (631 votes)
  • No = 9.6% (67 votes)
Decision on the Plan proposal On 25 February 2014, Arun District Council agreed the Decision Statement for the Arundel NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications

The Arundel NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on 8 April 2014.

Independent Examination

Arun District Council appointed Christopher Edward Collison as the independent Examiner of the Arundel NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Arundel NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Arundel NDP.

The Examiner has now issued their final report, which Arun District Council will now consider and will issue a ‘Decision Statement’ in due course setting out the actions to be taken in response to the recommendations of the Examiner.

Publicising the Plan proposal Arun District Council published the submitted Arundel NDP for consultation from 5 December to 16 January 2014 The following documents were submitted for consultation

Pre-submission consultation on the plan Arundel Town Council carried out their Pre Submission consultation on the Arundel Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) from 16 September to 21 October 2013

Designated Neighbourhood Area Following an application from Arundel Town Council, the Arundel Neighbourhood Area was designated by Arun District Council on 10 December 2012 and by the SDNPA on 14 March 2013.
Consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Area A consultation on an application to designate Arundel Neighbourhood Area was held from 3 October to 14 November 2012
