Planning Items under delegated authority – May 2020

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the May meeting of the South Downs National Park Authority’s (SDNPA) Planning Committee was not  held.

In line with the delegated responsibilities set out in the SDNPA’s Standing Orders the Director of Planning issued decisions for the items below following consultation with members of the SDNPA Planning Committee.

Additional Representations

Anyone who ordinarily would have wished to speak at a meeting of the SDNPA Planning Committee on the application or matters for decision was able to submit an additional representation of no more than 500 words by the deadline of 14 May 2020. These representations were restricted to additional comments in light of the officer’s report, and are included in the Public Response sheets below.

All other public comments, received by the case officer or submitted on public access, were précised in the Officers Report to Members or summarised in the Update Sheet if submitted after the officers report was published. This follows the normal committee process.

  • Statement on SDNP/19/03786/FUL – Iford Farm (14 May 2020): The Director of Planning has now had the opportunity to consider this application under his delegated powers and has come to the conclusion (within the agreed procedures) that it shall be referred to the Full Planning Committee (Virtual meeting) on 11th June for consideration. Reason: A significant number of representations have been received since the publication of the report and in the light of this it is considered that the application should be given consideration by the Committee.

  • Statement on SDNP/19/04720/FUL – Land rear of 34 Lavant Street (14 May 2020): The Director of Planning has now had the opportunity to consider this application under his delegated powers and has come to the conclusion (within the agreed procedures) that it shall be referred to the Full Planning Committee (Virtual meeting) on 11th June for consideration. Reason: Significant information has been submitted to the Case Officer from the applicant since the publication of the report which requires further scrutiny and in light of this it is considered prudent to refer the application to Committee for consideration.
