Local Farmers MarketsEverything that we do, from what and where we eat, the clothes we buy, where we live, to how we travel, has an impact on the environment. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the stream of advice and information about being ‘Green’, but it is very simple to start making a difference.

As individuals we can choose how we live our lives. It is with these choices that we can make a positive impact. By making green choices, you can improve your health, save money and improve your quality of life.

Below are some helpful guidelines about how you can embrace a green lifestyle, and help look after the landscape of the National Park and sustain the businesses and communities that live within it.

  • Buy locally produced organic meat, eggs and dairy when you can. Purchasing from local farmers and shops keeps money in the local economy and helps sustain local businesses.
  • Stay local and eat at local restaurants. Look out for Green Tourism Business Scheme accreditation. The green leaf is awarded to businesses that are recognized as making a positive environmental impact and who source goods from local producers.
  • Walk, cycle or take the bus. By leaving your car at home you can save money on parking costs, reduce carbon emissions, ease congestion and improve your health and fitness.
  • Use the tap to refill your water bottles to help reduce plastic container waste and save money.
  • Take your rubbish home or put in recycle bins where you can.
