Call for Local Green Spaces 2022
As part of the Local Plan Review we are inviting proposals for potential designation as Local Green Spaces (LGS).
The Call for LGS Sites will run from Wednesday 10 August until 23:59 on Wednesday 28 September.
Local Green Spaces are areas of particular importance to local communities that can be identified and protected through the planning process. The designation should only be used:
- Where the green space is in reasonably close proximity to the community it serves;
- Where the green area is demonstrably special to a local community and holds a particular local significance, for example, because of its beauty, historic significance, recreational value (including as a playing field), tranquility or richness of its wildlife; and
- Where the green area concerned is local in character and is not an extensive tract of land.
The SDNPA will assess these nominations in line with the criteria set out in paragraphs 101-103 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the Local Green Space section of the Planning Practice Guidance.
