Local Plan Examination

The South Downs Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State on 27 April 2018.

Inspector Brian Sims BSc CEng MICE MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the South Downs Local Plan is sound.

The Inspector will be supported by a Programme Officer who is appointed by, but acts independently of, the Authority. Mr Chris Banks of Banks Solutions has been appointed as the Programme Officer for the South Downs Local Plan. His contact details are:

The Examination Process

Hearing Sessions and Statements

A series of public hearings conducted by the Inspector will take place during the examination of the Local Plan. These will take place at the South Downs Centre, Midhurst and in Lewes.

August 2018

The Inspector has issued his Examination Guidance Note (INSP3) and Draft Issues, Matters and Hearing Programme (INSP4). The Programme Officer has issued an invitation to Representors to respond to the Inspector’s documents. All correspondence for the Inspector should be directed to the Programme Officer.

The letter makes reference to the Authority’s response to the issues raised in representations. You can find that document as SDNPA 4. SDNPA Issues and Responses in the Core Document Library.
