Current Policy

The South Downs National Park is covered by the saved policies of 11 inherited Local Plans and 5 adopted Joint Core Strategies. The SDNPA is currently preparing its Local Plan, which will replace all existing planning policies across the National Park. Until this is adopted, the ‘Development Plan’ for the SDNPA consists of:

Lewes District Joint Core Strategy (2016) – Adopted by the SDNPA on 23 June 2016.Policies SP1 and SP2 of the Lewes District Joint Core Strategy, insofar as they apply to the administrative area of the South Downs National Park, were quashed at the High Court on 20 March 2017. Work continues on the emerging South Downs Local Plan to ensure that there is an up to date development plan for all parts of the National Park including that part which lies within Lewes District.

NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
