Climate Change Adaptation Plan and Strategy

Climate Change Adaptation Plan and Strategy

In March 2020, the South Downs National Park Authority adopted a new Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan.

The Strategy and Plan confirms the Authority’s commitment to address the climate and nature emergency by:

  • Committing to the South Downs National Park Authority becoming a ‘Net-Zero’ Organisation by 2030
  • Agreeing an action plan which includes a commitment to working with our constituent Local Authorities and other partners, in particular communities and landowners to deliver actions that respond effectively to the climate and nature emergency
  • Committing to working towards the South Downs National Park becoming ‘Net-Zero with Nature’ by 2040

The existing Partnership Management Plan and Local Plan set out policies that co-ordinate our work on both climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Going beyond the Authority, the new People and Nature Network (PANN) sets out how organisation can work together to plan positively for nature and natural services within and surrounding the protected landscapes of the South East of England.
