Walk with a Group

Walk with a Group

The South Downs is a fabulous place to walk, whether you’re on your own, with family or with friends.

There are several walking groups in the National Park, including Sussex Ramblers and Petersfield Ramblers.

Both groups organise regular weekly walks in scenic parts of the National Park, taking in heathland, downland, woodland and rivers.

The Friends of the South Downs is the only membership organisation dedicated to conserving, enhancing and promoting the South Downs. They have over 200 guided walks and strolls a year, and non-members can take part in a ‘taster’ walk before joining.

Sussex Sunday Walkers, formerly the Society of Sussex Wealdmen, offers walks every Sunday throughout the year, regardless of weather. The walks are typically 12 – 16 miles, supported by 5 – 15 members, at locations across the county. They’ll be celebrating their Centenary year in 2026.

Whether you’re a seasoned walker or looking to pick up a new hobby, you’ll find a warm welcome.
