‘Inspired by Nature’ creative weekend
14 June 2019 to 16 June 2019
18:30 to 13:30
Join us for a short break this autumn, where you can indulge your love of nature, hone your creative skills and enjoy some fantastic food and drink. Your ‘rural recharge’ starts on Friday evening, when you’ll enjoy a delicious early supper before heading out and experiencing the reserve after dark with a night-time safari and star-gazing in an official International Dark Skies Area. While out and about, listen for the eerie call of the nightjar and have a go at using special bat detectors to work out which species are flitting around the trees.
On Saturday, choose from a macro photography workshop with professional tutor John Dominick (www.facebook.com/JohnnieDPhoto), who has exhibited at Kew Gardens and been published widely. John will help you make the most of your camera and be more creative with your photography, with sessions on both macro and landscape photography. Or else take a coloured pencil drawing workshop with Emily Summers, artist behind Miss Magpie Wildlife Art. Through a series of different exercises, Emily will help you learn basic drawing techniques that can be applied to any subject. You’ll then have the chance to work on a detailed piece inspired by the wildlife on the reserve. A picnic lunch will be provided and the day will finish with a scrumptious afternoon tea.
On Sunday morning, you’ll have the opportunity to get closer to nature and see some wildlife up close as our expert team takes you on a guided walk visiting exclusive parts of the reserve. We’ll finish with a light lunch. Itinerary is subject to change in adverse weather conditions.
Please note – accommodation costs are not included. We can provide a list of recommended accommodation providers at time of booking.
