Ferring Neighbourhood Plan

Ferring Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Ferring.  Further details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Ferring Parish Council website

The Ferring NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per Arun District Council’s Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution of 12 March 2015 has been made.

The Ferring NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 14 March 2013.

The made Ferring NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

  • South Downs Centre, North Street, Midhurst, GU29 9DH
  • Bognor Regis Town Hall
  • Arun Civic Centre and local Library
Referendum A referendum was held on the Ferring NDP on 10 December 2014. For more information on the referendum visit Arun District Council’s Referendum page.

There was a 45.2% turnout, with the following results

•Yes = 83.0% (1449 votes)
•No = 17.0% (296 votes)

Decision on a Plan Proposal On 30 October 2014,  Arun District Council agreed the Decision Statement for the Ferring NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications

The Ferring NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on 10 December 2014

Independent Examination

Arun District Council appointed Clare B Wright as the independent Examiner of the Ferring NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Ferring NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Ferring NDP.

The Examiner has now issued their final report, which Arun District Council will now consider and will issue a ‘Decision Statement’ in due course setting out the actions to be taken in response to the recommendations of the Examiner.
