Some people find the idea of a website storing information on their computer or mobile device a bit intrusive, particularly when this information is stored and used by a third party without them knowing. Although this is generally quite harmless you may not, for example, want to see advertising that has been targeted to your interests. If you prefer, it is possible to block some or all cookies, or even to delete cookies that have already been set; but you need to be aware that you might lose some functions of that website.

Fernhurst Neighbourhood Plan

Fernhurst Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Fernhurst. Details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Fernhurst Parish Council website.

The Fernhurst NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA resolution (insert planning committee link to making the plan) has been made.

The Fernhurst NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 13 September 2012.

Referendum A referendum was held on the Fernhurst NDP on Wednesday 2 March 2016.  For more information on the referendum visit the Chichester District Council’s Fernhurst Referendum page.

There was an 18.2% turnout, with the following results

  • Yes = 87.9% (335 votes)
  • No = 12.1% (46 votes)
Decision on the Plan proposal On 12 November 2015, the SDNPA agreed the Decision Statement for the Fernhurst NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications

The Fernhurst NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on 2 March 2016.

Independent Examination

The SDNPA  appointed Ms Deborah McCann BSc MRICS MRTPI Dip Arch Con Dip LD as the Independent Examiner of the Fernhurst NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Fernhurst NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Fernhurst NDP.

The Examiner has now issued their final report, which the SDNPA will now consider and will issue a ‘Decision Statement’ in due course setting out the actions to be taken in response to the recommendations of the Examiner.
