Steyning Neighbourhood Plan
Steyning Parish Council are preparing a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Steyning. Further details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Steyning Parish Council Website.

The Steyning NDP complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA resolution on 8 September 2022 has been made. The Steyning NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 23 March 2018. | Referendum | A referendum was held on the Steyning NDP on Thursday 14 July 2022. There was a 20% turnout, with the following result:

| Decision on a Plan proposal |
On 01 June 2011 Horsham District Council published the Decision Statement for the Steyning NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications. The Steyning NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on the 14 July 2022. |
| Independent Examination |
Horsham District Council appointed Andrew Ashcroft as the independent Examiner of the Steyning NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Steyning NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Steyning NDP. The Examiner issued their final report in April 2022: |
| Regulation 16 Consultation | Horsham District Council undertook the Regulation 16 consultation on the submission Steyning Neighbourhood Plan. The consultation ran for 8 weeks from 17 July to 11 September 2020.

| Pre-submission consultation (Regulation 14) | Steyning Parish Council undertook a pre-submission consultation on their draft Neighbourhood Plan from the 6th September to Friday 18th October 2019.

| Application for neighbourhood planning area |
Neighbourhood area applications set out the proposed area in which a parish or town council (or ‘neighbourhood forum’) intend to use the neighbourhood planning powers arising from the Localism Act. Parish of Steyning, Horsham Horsham DC and the South Downs National Park Authority has received an application from Steyning Parish Council for a neighbourhood area to be designated.
