East Meon Neighbourhood Plan
East Meon Parish Council are preparing a Neighbourhood Development Plan for East Meon. Details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the East Meon Parish Council website

The East Meon NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 14 December 2017 has been made. The East Meon NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA in 2014. | Referendum | A referendum was held on the East Meon NDP on Thursday 9 November 2017. For more information on the referendum visit East Hampshire District Council’s Referendum page. There was a 37% turnout, with the following result:

| Decision on a Plan Proposal | On 14 September 2017, the SDNPA’s Planning Committee agreed the Decision Statement for the East Meon NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiners recommendations.
The East Meon NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on the 9th November 2017. |
| Independent Examination (Examiner’s Report) |
The Examiner has now issued his final report, which the SDNPA will consider. A ‘Decision Statement’ will be prepared setting out the actions to be taken in response to the recommendations of the Examiner. It will be presented to the SDNPA Planning Committee on the 14th September 2017. |
| Independent Examination | The SDNPA appointed John Slater MRTPI as independent examiner of the East Meon NDP. The Examiner will assess whether the East Meon NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as ‘basic conditions’ and will consider the representations made on the East Meon NDP.
Documents Produced during East Meon Neighbourhood Plan Examination During the Examination of the East Meon Neighbourhood Development Plan, the Independent Examiner (Mr John Slater) has requested further information to enable him to carry out the Examination. The Independent Examiner set out some initial comments to the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) and East Meon Parish Council (EMPC) on 12 April 2017. The initial comments are set out in the document below East Meon examiners initial comments The SDNPA and EMPC prepared a joint response to the initial comments and submitted these to the Independent Examiner on 12 May 2017. The response to the initial comments can be seen below. SDNPA & East Meon PC response to the Examiner Following the Independent Examiners site visit further comments have been submitted to the SDNPA and EMPC from the Independent Examiner. This request can be seen below. The SDNPA and EMPC are currently preparing a response, which will be published here. |
| Publicising the Plan Proposal | The SDNPA published the submitted East Meon Neighbourhood Development Plan (EMNDP) for consultation in accordance with Part 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 from 27 January 2017 to the 10 March 2017. Representations made on the EMNDP will be considered by an independent examiner . This guidance note provides further information on the basic conditions and next steps for the EMNDP.The following documents were submitted for consultation.
