Some people find the idea of a website storing information on their computer or mobile device a bit intrusive, particularly when this information is stored and used by a third party without them knowing. Although this is generally quite harmless you may not, for example, want to see advertising that has been targeted to your interests. If you prefer, it is possible to block some or all cookies, or even to delete cookies that have already been set; but you need to be aware that you might lose some functions of that website.

We depend on the hundreds of wonderful people who give up their spare time to carry out volunteer activities in the South Downs. These volunteers make an enormous contribution to conserving and enhancing the South Downs as well as enabling better access and supporting work in local communities.

The South Downs Volunteer Ranger Service is comprised of 300 volunteers who give over 16,000 hours a year in support of the National Park. Find out more about their work and how to join. There are also many local conservation groups across the South Downs doing important work to protect and enhance the area’s unique landscape and precious wildlife. You can find details of some of these listed on the Voluntary Groups page. Contact your local group directly to find out what is going on.
