Notes from a Sculptor’s Studio a talk by Philip Jackson

21 June 2024 to 29 May 2024

19.30 to Time

In an illustrated one-hour talk, followed by a questions and answers session, Britain’s foremost sculptor, Philip Jackson CVO, whose home base is just a stone’s throw from Graffham, will share insights into how he has established such a worldwide reputation for public and private commissions.

These range from high-profile works in London such as Queen Elizabeth II on The Mall and in Windsor Great Park, Bobby Moore at Wembley Stadium, the recent Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park and Mahatma Ghjandhi in Parliament Square to an outstanding portfolio of ‘gallery’ works, including his instantly recognisable, monumental Venice-inspired sculptures.

More locally, his St Richard and Christ in Judgement are major displays at Chichester Cathedral. He has received multiple awards and honours, including appointments as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order and Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex. In his Graffham Festival talk, he will look back at his 60 plus years of sculpting and how he has captured the essence of the national and international icons who have been his subjects.
