Pension
You will be entitled to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, a contributory scheme operated by the West Sussex County Council on behalf of the SDNPA with the day-to-day administration is carried out by Hampshire County Council.
Healthcare
We use Simply Health, a cash plan benefit that has some minor tax implications for staff.
As well as the cash plan that includes a number of everyday needs such as money off dental, optics, physio etc. it also provides staff with 24/7 access to an online GP service, counselling service as well as additional wellbeing discounts.
Annual Leave
Our annual leave year will run from 1 April to 31 March each year
During your first 3 years of continuous service with the SDNPA, you are entitled to 27 days annual leave, each annual leave year. After 3 years this will rise by one day per year to a maximum of 30 days per annum (pro rata for part time staff).
In addition to your annual leave entitlement, you are also entitled to time off for the recognised public holidays. Continuous service from another local government organisation does not contribute towards your leave entitlement with SDNPA. All staff start on 27 days.
Training / professional development support
SDNPA is supportive of all forms of training / professional development that is relevant to an individuals role. The various types of training we offer are:
- on the job
- online training platform
- run a corporate training programme
- provide individuals specific training
- supporting professional / higher education courses as appropriate to individual roles
- Apprenticeships
Staff can also claim for 1x professional fee allowance to be paid by the SDNPA every year e.g. RTPI

Electric Vehicle (EV) Salary Sacrifice Scheme
Provide by Octopus, this scheme allows you to give up some of your gross monthly pay for a new EV, where you can save up to 40% on the monthly cost thanks to saving on National Insurance and Income Tax (terms and conditions apply).
Cycle to work scheme
You can save money on a new bike and spread the cost by (the bike doesn’t have to be used for work ) by signing up to our cycle to work scheme.

Regular staff events / activities, which support the SDNPA’s Purposes and Duty
We hold 3 ‘All Staff Events’ each year.
They are a blend of updates from the Senior Leadership Team and staff on strategic initiatives, project etc. as well as work related activities.
It is also an important opportunity for all staff to get together in one space.
