Plan “Made” (Adopted)

The Hassocks NDP – i.e., the Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all other modifications as per the Decision Statement – complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and, on 02 July 2020, was formally made part of the Development Plan for the South Downs National Park area of the parish.

The Hassocks NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

Mid Sussex District Council, Oaklands, Oaklands Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 1SS.

Referendum

A referendum was held on the Hassocks NDP on 05 March 2020. Further information on the referendum is available on the Mid Sussex District Council website.

There was a 26% turnout, with the following results:

Yes = 94.8% (1,635 votes)
No = 5.2% (90 votes)

Decision Statement

Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) agreed the Decision Statement for the Hassocks NDP on 13 January 2020. This sets out the modifications that were made to the Hassocks NDP prior to referendum.

Independent Examination

Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) appointed Mr Andrew Ashcroft as the Independent Examiner of the Hassocks Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP). The Examiner published their final report in December 2019.

Regulation 16 – Submission Consultation

Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) published the Submission Hassocks Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for consultation between 22 July and 16 September 2019. Regulation 14 – Pre-Submission Consultation

Hassocks Parish Council (HPC) carried out a pre-submission consultation on the Draft Hassocks Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) between 07 January and 18 February 2019.

Withdrawal

Hassocks Parish Council (HPC) confirmed on 04 January 2019 that they wished to withdraw the Submission Hassocks NDP and prepare a revised NDP.

Regulation 16 – Submission Consultation

Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) published the Submission Hassocks Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for consultation between 21 July and 08 September 2016.

Regulation 14 – Pre-Submission Consultation

Hassocks Parish Council (HPC) carried out a pre-submission consultation on the Draft Hassocks Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) between 05 January and 16 February 2016.

Designated Neighbourhood Area

A consultation on an application to designate the Hassocks Neighbourhood Area was carried out between 15 June and 08 August 2012. The SDNPA designated the part of the Hassocks Neighbourhood Area that is within the National Park on 13 September 2012.
