How do I submit a site?
In addition to our LAA (Land Availability Assessment) and general Call for Sites, The South Downs National Park Authority is committed to meeting the accommodation needs of all communities; including Gypsies, Travellers, and Travelling Showpeople, whose needs are recognised in national planning policy and protected under the Equality Act 2010. The South Downs National Park Authority, working together with Hastings Borough Council, Rother District Council, Eastbourne Borough Council, Lewes District Council, and Wealden District Council, are aiming to identify suitable land for permanent Gypsy and Traveller pitches and Travelling Showpeople plots.
We welcome site suggestions from landowners, developers, community groups, and the public. Sites of all sizes will be considered, including sites as small 500sqm – about the same size as a tennis court.
Sites within the South Downs national Park Boundary must be submitted to the council using our Site Submission Form (Submit a Site to the Land Availability Assessment – South Downs National Park Authority). Sites in other areas must be submitted using submission forms for other planning authority areas, details of which can be found in the FAQs.
