Renewable Energy Study

To inform the new Local Plan, a Renewable Energy Study and subsequent Addendum have been prepared.

The 2024 Study assesses sites submitted for potential renewable energy development, summarises stakeholder engagement, and reviews potential Local Plan policy approaches to support appropriate community-led and small-scale energy proposals within the South Downs National Park. 

The 2026 Addendum updates this work by assessing additional sites submitted during and after the draft Local Plan (Regulation 18) consultation.

Together, the Study and Addendum have informed the proposed wording of Policy SDN10 (Renewable Energy). The policy identifies the five best-performing sites as suitable locations for renewable energy development, subject to further technical assessment and site-specific surveys
