South Downs Junior Rangers

South Downs Junior Rangers

Open to ages 13 to 16, volunteering as a Junior Ranger is an exciting way to learn new skills, connect with others who care about the nature, and take action to protect it. It’s also a fun and fulfilling way to complete the Volunteering section of your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Plus, it looks great on your UCAS personal statement or apprenticeship applications- showing great initiative, commitment and teamwork.

What does this involve?

Join our Ranger team for practical conservation tasks such as habitat restoration, footpath maintenance and wildlife monitoring.

Our skilled and experienced rangers will provide training and supervision, including information on how to safely use tools and equipment.

Young people will need access to transport to and from site. Transport costs are reimbursed up to £10. We also provide up to £5 for lunch.

In addition, Junior Rangers undertake a conservation task independently once a month. We provide full support and resources.

We have recently filled our spaces for 2025. We hope to reopen the opportunity next year. If you are interested in finding out more, please email us on learning@southdowns.gov.uk
