This is a 7 mile walk that puts the yew tree and its long association with churchyards at the heart of the story. This magnificent tree, which is one of only 3 native British conifers, has an fascinating tale to tell. In both botanical and mythological terms it is a mass of contradictions, criss-crossing between life and death.
Known locally as ‘Hampshire Weed’ for its love of our calcareous soils, the yew is often found in churchyards. This walk, which links 3 beautiful village churchyards all known for their historic yews, will help unravel some of this tree’s mystery. Well behaved dogs on leads allowed
