Protecting our Heritage Coast

Did you know that the South Downs National Park has 14 miles of coastline?

The Sussex Heritage Coast stretches from Eastbourne, along the iconic chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, past Cuckmere Haven and on to Splash Point at Seaford.

As with any coastline this stunning landscape is often the recipient of litter washed up by the sea. But there’s an easy solution – lets pick it up!

Take 3 for the Sea is a global movement which encourages anyone visiting a beach, waterway or indeed anywhere, to pick up and take away three pieces of litter.

Of course you can take more, but even just taking three pieces of litter will help towards stopping the build-up of plastics in our oceans which are killing wildlife and threatening the health of our planet.

Regular beach cleans are run all over the world including in and around the South Downs National Park – to find one near you visit mcsuk.org.

We’d love to see you helping keep our coastline clean so please tag us in any South Downs beach cleans social media posts – #southdowns #take3forthesea.
