Ringmer Neighbourhood Plan

Ringmer Neighbourhood Plan

Ringmer Parish Council are preparing a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Ringmer.  Further details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Ringmer Parish Council website and the Lewes District Council website.

The Ringmer Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the Lewes District Council Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 21 January 2016 has been made.

The Ringmer NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 13 September 2012.

The made Ringmer NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

  • South Downs Centre, North Street, Midhurst, GU29 9DH
  • Lewes District Council, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, BN7 1AB
  • District Council offices
Referendum A referendum was held on the Ringmer NDP on 12 November 2015. For more information on the referendum visit the Lewes District Council Referendum page.

There was a 42% turnout, with the following results

  • Yes = 91.9% (1444 votes)
  • No = 8.1% (128 votes)
Decision on a Plan Proposal On 18 September 2015, Lewes District Council agreed the Decision Statement for the Ringmer NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications

The Ringmer NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum on 12 November 2015

Independent Examination

Lewes District Council appointed Nigel McGurk as the independent Examiner of the Ringmer NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Ringmer NDP meets certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Ringmer NDP.

The Examiner has now issued their final report, which the SDNPA will now consider and will issue a ‘Decision Statement’ in due course setting out the actions to be taken in response to the recommendations of the Examiner.

Publicising a Plan Proposal Lewes District Council published the submitted Ringmer NDP for consultation from  22 September to 3 November 2014.  The following documents were submitted for consultation

Designated Neighbourhood Area The SDNPA designated the area of Ringmer Neighbourhood Area on 12 September 2013 within the National Park following an application from Ringmer Parish Council

Consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Area A consultation on an application to designate Ringmer Neighbourhood Area was held from 18 June to 3 August 2012
