Some people find the idea of a website storing information on their computer or mobile device a bit intrusive, particularly when this information is stored and used by a third party without them knowing. Although this is generally quite harmless you may not, for example, want to see advertising that has been targeted to your interests. If you prefer, it is possible to block some or all cookies, or even to delete cookies that have already been set; but you need to be aware that you might lose some functions of that website.

Clapham Neighbourhood Plan

Clapham Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Clapham. Details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Clapham Neighbourhood Plan website.

The plan has been ‘made’.  The following stages and documents were produced:

Plan ‘made’ (adopted) The Clapham NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 12 May 2016  has been made.

The Clapham NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 13 November 2014.

Referendum A referendum was held on the Clapham NDP on Thursday 24 March 2016.  For more information on the referendum visit Arun District Council’s Referendum page.  There was a 52.7% turnout, with the following result:

  • Yes = 94.4% (118 votes)
  • No = 5.6% (7 votes)
Decision on the Plan proposal On the 21 January 2016, the SDNPA agreed the Decision Statement for the Clapham NDP. This set out the modifications made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s recommendations.

Independent Examination

The SDNPA appointed Mr John Slater as the Independent Examiner of the Clapham NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Clapham NDP met certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Clapham NDP.

Submission of the Plan proposal Clapham Parish Council submitted the Clapham NDP and accompanying documents the SDNPA on 4 August 2015.  The following checklist was completed by the SDNPA:
