Clapham Neighbourhood Plan

Clapham Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Clapham. Details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Clapham Neighbourhood Plan website.

The plan has been ‘made’. The following stages and documents were produced:

Plan ‘made’ (adopted)	The Clapham NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 12 May 2016 has been made. Clapham Neighbourhood Development Plan – Made Plan The Clapham NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 13 November 2014. The made Clapham NDP can be viewed at the following locations: South Downs Centre, North Street, Midhurst, GU29 9DH Arun Civic Centre, 1 Maltravers Rd, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN17 5LF The Junction @ Clapham Store & Tea Room, the Street, Clapham Village, BN13 3UU
Referendum	A referendum was held on the Clapham NDP on Thursday 24 March 2016. For more information on the referendum visit Arun District Council’s Referendum page. There was a 52.7% turnout, with the following result: Yes = 94.4% (118 votes) No = 5.6% (7 votes)
Decision on the Plan proposal	On the 21 January 2016, the SDNPA agreed the Decision Statement for the Clapham NDP. This set out the modifications made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s recommendations. Decision statement
Independent Examination	The SDNPA appointed Mr John Slater as the Independent Examiner of the Clapham NDP. The Examiner assessed whether the Clapham NDP met certain legal requirements, known as the ‘basic conditions’ and considered representations made on the Clapham NDP. Publicising the Plan proposal	The SDNPA published the submitted Clapham NDP for consultation from Friday 21 August to the 2 October 2015. Designated Neighbourhood Area	The SDNPA designated the Clapham Neighbourhood Area on 13 November 2014 following an application from Clapham Parish Council. Clapham Designated Neighbourhood Area
Consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Area	A consultation on an application to designate Clapham Neighbourhood Area was held from 3 September – 15 October 2014.
