Background and Purpose

The South Downs National Park Authority have appointed consultants Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) to deliver Stage 1 of the Egrets Way Phase7 project. This has included site analysis, preliminary ecological assessment and traffic surveys which have informed concept design options for the provision of traffic calming measures and a safe mixed-use connection from The Street in Piddinghoe village to the roadside path opposite Chapel Barn to the north. Proposals were developed in discussion with stakeholders including landowners (private residences), East Sussex County Council Highways, Active Travel England and SaferC7 Project.

Option A ‘Riverside’ – would provide a continuous and segregated path for vulnerable users on the east side of the C7 between the village and Chapel Barn and associated traffic calming measures.

Option B ‘Non-riverside’ – would provide a continuous and segregated path for vulnerable users on the east side of the C7 between the village and Chapel Barn and associated traffic calming measures.
