Gilbert White’s – 18th Century Garden Tour

05 May 2026

1.30pm to 2.30pm

Gilbert White’s – 18th Century Garden Tour As part of Alton’s Regency Week, we will be going back in time.

Gilbert White was a keen gardener and our gardens here in Selborne are a unique example of an 18th century landscape garden on a curate’s budget.

Let our Georgian gardener take you around the garden to learn more about Gilbert White, and gardens in the time of Jane Austen.

After all the garden that Gilbert White left behind in 1793 was just behind the wall where the Austen’s would visit Selborne in the 1810’s.

Price: An additional £5 per person on top of admission
