Join Family Support Work (FSW), The Sussex Charity for Children, on their inaugural ‘Midhurst Circular’ – Charity Sponsored Walk in aid of FSW, Thursday 4th September 2025. You will enjoy views of the South Downs, whilst visiting local churches en-route, raising much needed funds for families in need across the county.

The Walk begins at 0930am: Meeting outside St Mary Magdalene and St Denys Church (Church Hill/Market Sq., Midhurst, GU29 9NX). The first stop will be at Heyshott –St James.

Parking: If you are coming by car, please note you can park in the (council run) Grange Community & Leisure Centre car park (Bepton Road, Midhurst GU29 9HD) – so long as you buy a ticket – the first two hours are free, and you can park for the whole day. Disabled badge holders can park free of charge. Checking online (as of January 2024), cost is £1.20 an hour – with a flat rate for the day (less than £3 for four hours, not aware of the day rate as not advertised online).

There are no toilets available at any of the churches on the route – there are facilities nearby though – please take note of where these are before setting off.

The three routes available are as follows: Route 1 – The full circular route of approx’ ten miles taking on all five churches, Midhurst, West Lavington, Heyshott, Cocking and Bepton Church. The route will be led by Vicki Harrison a local resident and from: ‘CoatonCoatoffWetFeet,’ walking group – walking at a brisk pace. (Allow 4 hours for this route to be completed). Toilets are located at the Grange Community Leisure Centre – also Garton’s Coffee House, Market Square (opposite the church). Next official toilet break is at Cocking.

Route 2 – A shorter route where you can walk to the first two churches and end at Heyshott church which is approx. three miles which is a combination of woods/common and some road walking. Here you would need to arrange collection back from Heyshott church to Midhurst. (Allow 1 to 1.5hr for this route)

Route 3 – Taking on the fourth church and ending at Cocking church you will be walking approx’ five miles into the route and will need to arrange collection back from Cocking to Midhurst, this area is also served by bus (route 60) back to Midhurst. (Allow 2 hours for this route). Facilities are available at The Blue Bell, Bell Ln, Cocking, GU29 0HU – Boyd the landlord, has kindly agreed to allow walkers use of their toilets – here you can also purchase food and drink. Fr Jonathan will make available toilets at The Rectory (which is located away from the church – a few minutes’ walk from St Catherine of Siena church – across the road from The Blue Bell via Mill Lane)

Refreshment: Heyshott, St James, Off Mill Lane, Heyshott, GU29 0DH – this is the first stop approximately 3 miles into the route; we will stop no more than 10/15 minutes; some walkers may choose to leave us here as this is the end point of Route 2.
