Edgar’s Tale, A Downland Farming Exhibition

Edgar’s Tale, A Downland Farming Exhibition

12 September 2026 to 16 September 2026

10am to 5pm

Edgar’s Tale follows the extraordinary life of South Downs farmer, Edgar Williams, who celebrated his ninetieth birthday in 2025.

We’re showcasing his life on a South Downs farm since 1941, and presenting some of the artefacts he’s uncovered from the Downland soils.

With Edgar’s Tale, we reveal a long social history, thousands of years of Downland farming heritage, and the remarkable nature of life and work on the South Downs.

This exhibition will be held in the Pump Barn in the Seven Sisters Country Park at Exceat for the South Downs National Park Heritage Open Days. Come along between 10am-5pm, Saturday 12th – Wednesday 16th September 2026 to find out more!

If you’d like to join us for guided walks around the farming landscape, artefact and landscape workshops at the Towner Art Gallery, or artefact and farmed food workshops at the Pump Barn, follow us on Instagram Wildwood_Heritage or visit our website www.wildwoodheritage.org.
