City Nature Challenge Walk

City Nature Challenge Walk

25 April 2026

10.30am

Every year Naturalist hosts a Global City Nature Challenge to record as much nature as possible over a weekend at the end of April. Our local Living Coast Biosphere has a project area set up and takes part every year. You can see results from previous years here.

You don’t need any experience to take part, we will be there to guide you. Before coming along, it will save a lot of time if you download the Naturalist app to your phone and create an account.

Jan Knowlson, Biodiversity Officer from the South Downs National Park, will lead a walk over Landport Bottom Nature Reserve. There will be some uneven terrain, so lease wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water and snacks! We will be stopping to record anything we see as we go, so it will be a gently paced walk.

This is an opportunity to see the countryside around Lewes, learn how to record wildlife and use the iNaturalist app, whilst taking part in a global challenge!

Meeting point – The Junction of The Gallops with Nevill Road at 10.30 a.m., (red pin on map)

Find out more about the app and create an account here: A Community for Naturalists · iNaturalist

If you are under 18, please get permission from your parent/guardian before downloading the app and creating an account.
