Submit a Site to the Land Availability Assessment

The Land Availability Assessment (LAA) was published in December 2025 and will be used to inform the next iteration of the South Downs Local Plan Review which is anticipated for Regulation 19 public consultation in May 2026. Any sites submitted after 31 October 2025 will not be assessed and considered further until after the above public consultation has been completed.

How do I submit a site?

If you wish to put forward a site, please complete and return a Call for Sites Submission Form (with a site map / location plan) for each site that you wish to put forward.

You can return completed Call for Sites Submission Forms (with site maps / location plans) via:

If you wish to be directly notified about the South Downs Local Plan Review, please email planningpolicy@southdowns.gov.uk.

How are sites being assessed?

The sites are being assessed and considered in the Land Availability Assessment (LAA).

Previously submitted sites

We are considering all sites previously assessed in the 2015/16 Strategic Housing Land Availability (SHLAA). We are also considering all sites submitted to us since 2019. This includes sites that were submitted during the formal “Call for Sites” in Summer 2022 and the Regulation 18 public consultation in early 2025, as well as sites submitted in between and after the above.

If your site was previously assessed and you have new information on the availability and deliverability of the site, please use the Call for Sites Submission Form (above) and please provide the site reference number.
