Update on fire-damaged buildings in Midhurst – June 2026

Further progress has been made to bring fire-damaged buildings in Midhurst back into use.

Last year the South Downs National Park Authority granted listed building consent for the partial dismantling of the former tuck shop/Olive and Vine, next to the former Angel Inn, following an application by the site owners.

The work is due to start later this month, with scaffolding expected to be installed on 17 June.

The scaffolding installation is due to take two to three days to complete.

The site owners have confirmed that dismantling is due to start towards the end of the month, with an expected start date on 22 June.

Meanwhile, a planning application is currently being prepared regarding the former Angel Inn site and is expected to be submitted to the National Park Authority for consideration this summer.
