South Downs businesses get early Christmas Present

South Downs businesses get early Christmas Present

December 14, 2016

Businesses and communities based in the South Downs are getting an early Christmas gift to help them take advantage of being based in the National Park. Communicating the South Downs is a new online resource packed with photos, branding and tips, all free to use for marketing services to visitors or getting people more involved in their local communities.

For example a B&B hoping to use the National Park’s new International Dark Skies Reserve status to attract winter tourists can find tips on stargazing to share with their customers; cafes can use the National Park’s place brand to demonstrate the provenance of their menus; or a parish council might just want to use stunning photos to inspire local residents to get involved with neighbourhood planning.

Stephen Finlay, who leads on sustainable tourism for the South Downs National Park, said:

“2017 will present big opportunities for our tourism in the South Downs. A weak pound could also mean more British people holidaying at home and more overseas visitors coming to the National Park.

“As one of the most beautiful protected landscapes in our country, full of opportunities for adventure and with a brand new International Dark Skies Reserve, businesses can only gain from making sure people know they belong in the South Downs National Park.”

Communicating the South Downs includes free access to use of the place brand for the National Park and images. All the National Park Authority ask is that their use does not contradict the purposes and duty of the National Park.
