Barn Owl Cam – Waiting for the last owlet!

In the past week we have seen 3 new arrivals in our barn owl box! The first was on Friday 19 May, the next on Sunday and the third on Tuesday 23. We are expecting the last owlet any moment now, keep an eye on our webcam for your chance to watch the moment it hatches.
The chicks are very small, naked and wriggly at the moment, not much to look at! The male has been doing a great job of bringing in food for the mother and new arrivals. Some days there have been up to 10 dead rodents in the box, which is fantastic for the female and the owlets.
You may be able to catch her pulling small bits off the rodents and feeding the owlets if you are watching regularly. As the owlets get bigger the male will spend less time in there with the female and find somewhere else to roost. Hopefully the good weather and food abundance will continue over the coming weeks, so the male can continue with his excellent food provision at this early stage in the owlet’s lives.
