Verse, Vista & Vespers
03 July 2026
18.30 to 21.00
This is a gentle, evening 4 mile walk that includes sharing and enjoying poetry.
It’s an opportunity to slow down and take in the beauty of the South Downs – a landscape that has long inspired poets, artists, and walkers alike.
Towards the end of the route, we’ll pause at a wonderful local vantage point above the local church, on a bell ringing practice evening, with the sound of the bells carrying across the landscape.
Here we’ll stop for a picnic and relaxed poetry sharing session.
You’re welcome to bring a poem to read aloud (church-themed or anything that you find moving or uplifting), choose from a small curated selection we’ll provide, or simply sit back and listen.
We’ll then complete the circular walk at an easy pace.
A calm and sociable way to spend a summer evening – whether you enjoy poetry, or are simply looking for a quieter way to experience the countryside.
