Ring the Changes
17 June 2026
17.15 to 21.00
This 4 mile walk offers a rare chance to step into the hidden world of church bells – one of the oldest and most enduring sounds in the English landscape, marking joy and sorrow, celebration and remembrance.
As we walk between two village churches, we’ll explore the long history of bell ringing.
At our first stop, we’ll listen and watch as ringers practise, gaining an insight into the skill, rhythm, and coordination involved in this centuries-old tradition.
Then, at the second church, there will be the opportunity to have a go ourselves, with no prior experience required.
And while we may not quite rival Quasimodo, it’s a chance to step briefly into the bell tower and discover the pull – both literal and historical – of these remarkable instruments. Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome ……who don’t mind loud noises!
