Meet the Team

    • Will Dickson – Assistant Engagement Ranger

Will is passionate about sharing the wonders of the South Downs with everyone, especially the unique landscapes and rare wildlife.

Whether he’s leading a nature walk, organising a bug hunt for children, or simply chatting with visitors out on the beautiful Wealden heaths, Will’s goal is to make these special places accessible and enjoyable for all. Will is also a dedicated animal lover, always happy to greet dogs and their walkers during his time outdoors.

If you spot Will on the heath, don’t hesitate to say hello—he’s always eager to have to have a chat, help everyone connect with the natural world, and encourage curiosity and care for our valuable heathlands.

    • Kirsty Murray – Assistant Engagement Ranger

Kirsty loves connecting with nature through a variety of activities, especially on our magical heathlands.  There is so much to learn from the special birds, plants, fungi and insects that surround us.  Kirsty particularly enjoys photographing and trying to identify the different fungi that we’re so lucky to have on our protected sites.

With her previous career in public service, Kirsty loves getting to know people from the local community and learning what they love about nature.  She is passionate about engaging young people in conservation through activities that help them connect with this beautiful landscape and the species that rely on it.

As a devoted dog owner, Kirsty is always excited to say hello to four legged friends (and their owners, of course!).  If you see Kirsty out on the heath come and say hi and tell her about the wildlife you’ve seen and heard.

    • Emma Stanbury – Project Officer

Emma has spent the last 5 years working on the Heathlands Reunited Project.

Getting to know the diverse heathland sites of the National Park and engaging communities with their local heaths through events and activities has been a dream job.

With a background in community-led conservation and project work, Emma is excited to be supporting the Wealden Heath SAMM project and looks forward to inspiring people to protect and enjoy this precious habitat on their doorsteps.

      • Colin Carré – Team Leader

Colin brings his knowledge of project management to the team and his experience of delivering public focused environmental engagement initiatives.

The most recent of which has been as part of the Heathlands Reunited Partnership which has provided the foundation for this exciting opportunity for us to continue to support the responsible use of this valued and protected landscape.
