We are really excited to announce eight new positions on our apprenticeship programme, with a variety of exciting openings across the National Park.
We hope these will give those of you who are appointed the opportunity to understand more about the importance of the work we do in caring for the landscape, wildlife, and promoting enjoyment of this special place.
You may think that the National Park is all about working outside, such as ranger roles, but think again!
The importance of “back office” jobs should not be overlooked.
Rangers interact with the public in the park – guide walks, give talks and generally ensure the park is a good place to visit.
But from our head office in Midhurst the “back office” teams make sure the public know what we do. The team plan future work programmes and are basically at the very heart of all the important work we do. It’s a real team effort – and a good training ground for anyone interested in nature and the environment!
The roles are:
- Apprentice Rangers/Forestry x 5 – this will require attendance at Sparsholt College Winchester for one day per week during term time to undertake the Certificate and Diploma in work-based Environmental Conservation Apprenticeship Level 2, and then placements from one of our four area offices across the park.
- Business Support x 2 – this will require attendance at Chichester College for one day per week during term time to undertake the Business Administration Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship. Your work placements will be based in Midhurst with the support services, HR, facilities, procurement and tourism teams on a rota basis to give you a broad overview of what we do.
- Planning Apprentice x 1 – this will require attendance on a Level 3 NVQ course. Your work placement work placement will be based in Midhurst working within the planning directorate and support the work of the 4 teams: DM Systems and Technical Support, Planning Policy, Development Management and Major Planning Projects and Technical.
