Stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne, the South Downs National Park contains over 1600km2 of some of England’s most iconic landscapes. With a population of over 2 million living in or within 5kms of the park boundary the pressures on development and the ongoing impact of significant infrastructure needs can be challenging. Working in partnership with local authorities and national bodies this role will ensure the SDNPA supports achieving the appropriate balance between environmental, social and economic outcomes and that future infrastructure projects which impact on the Park are managed sympathetically and meet the needs of the whole community – residents; visitors and businesses. This must all be achieved within the framework of protecting the natural environment, diversity and unique beauty of the landscape.

If you have experience in dealing with complex infrastructure planning projects working with a variety of high profile partners and organisations and are seeking a new challenge in a diverse and rewarding role, then this could be the career opportunity you want. You will also need case officer experience in delivering significant planning applications as this will be another facet of this key new role. Additionally you will need to work closely with our new Transport Officer to jointly deliver outcomes which ensure the environmental impact of infrastructure decisions are fully understood and considered in order to develop and enhance the special qualities of the National Park.

Sound like something that interests you? Think you can really add value to the role? Meet the person specification? Then please apply!
