The South Downs National Park offers a unique and fulfilling environment in which to develop a planning career. As a Development Management Officer you will have a case load of householder and other planning applications where the Authority delivers the planning service directly. You will travel to the application sites, assess the planning issues and make recommendations to the team leader and on occasion to the planning committee. You will also liaise with a wide variety of consultees inside the Authority, including our national park rangers, and external bodies.

 This is a career grade post and is suitable for a graduate or someone part way through their professional training. Starting salary and future progression will depend on level of qualification and experience and competency in the role. So if you are looking to start your career in planning or have some experience and want to develop you knowledge and skills within the South Downs National Park dealing with a wide variety of challenging applications in a sensitive landscape, then this could be the right opportunity for you.
