Willow Festive Decorations at The Sustainability Centre

ABOUT THE COURSE: Willow weaving and craft course in the Hampshire South Downs. Participants will learn how to create a willow wreath, combine willow hoops to form the frame of an ivy ball and make star wands to decorate with winter foliage.
THE COURSE WILL GIVE PARTICIPANTS: Skills in crafting with willow Knowledge on how to select suitable materials Understanding of how to grade, dry, store and soak willow Knowledge about the ecological credentials of willow
WHO IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR? No previous experience is needed, but some manual dexterity and patience is required.
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR Packed lunch although lunch is also available to purchase from the Beech Cafe.
ABOUT THE TUTOR Louise Arthur specialises in willow weaving and environmental education. She is highly skilled at making baskets from sustainable local willow and foraged hedgerow materials. These natural, biodegradable, little gems reflect the biodiversity of our countryside hedges and range in colour, texture and form. Louise is an exceptional teacher who has years of experience running outdoor education sessions with the Forestry Commission and at The Sustainability Centre. As an experienced workshop leader she is passionate about sharing her love of willow crafts with adults and children.

Car From the A3 and A3M From the A3 take the Clanfield turn off (South of Petersfield and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, north of Waterlooville and Horndean). Follow the signs for Clanfield and the brown tourist signs. Turn right at the Rising Sun Pub on to the East Meon Road. Follow this road for 1.6 miles to the top of the hill. Turn left by the thatched cottage (sign posted to Droxford). We are ¼ mile further along on the left.
