Stargazing Evening at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare

Stargazing Evening at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare

28 April 2018

19:30 to 22:30

On Saturday 28th April be will be holding a rather exciting Stargazing Evening at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare.

Not only will we be joined by the Seven Sisters and East Sussex Astronomical Societies, Jane Green, who is a professional speaker, author, broadcaster and an elected Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, is coming to give a talk on the night!

Jane has co-presented the recent pioneering theatre show TOUR OF THE UNIVERSE – a UK national tour.  Guests included the presenters of BBC television’s The Sky at Night programme and other high-profile science communicators and was described by Professor Chris Lintott as ‘A first, and a triumph!’.

The Stargazing Evening will begin at 7.30 p.m and we are inviting you to come to Raystede and learn more about what’s in our night skies. The Seven Sisters & East Sussex Astronomical Societies will be running this evening for us and will be armed with telescopes and have reported that the moon, Jupiter and Venus should be visible on the night. They can also show you what’s up in space through Stellarium, whatever the weather!

All money raised from the evening will go towards helping the animals in our care and by coming on our evening you are helping us achieve our mission of giving animals a better life!

It’s £12 for adults to come, £6 for children aged between 12-16 and under 12s can enjoy the event for free!

The event will include a soup dinner and there will also be a cash only bar and music throughout the evening. For every 2 people that come to our Stargazing Evening, you will helping us to care for a dog or cat at our centre for a day!

We recommend wrapping up nice and warm and feel free to bring along your scopes or binoculars with you! We also suggest bringing a camping chairs/ sun loungers along to the event. They’ll be a photography competition as well, so make sure you bring your digital cameras to be in with a chance of getting the winning photo! We do hope you’ll join us.
