Coombe With A View
26 June 2024
09.30 to 14.00
A 7 mile circular walk to a local viewpoint overlooking a spectacular Coombe. In Room With A View, Miss Honeychurch has her sheltered English eyes opened to both ideas and people.
On this walk we hope to open your eyes to both the beauty of the Western Weald and the significance of this view. It is surely one of the national park’s most magnificent, viewpoints and one that Miss Honeychurch’s beau, George Emerson would certainly have recommended.
In the book he says “…there is only one perfect view — the view of the sky straight over our heads” and “choose a place where you won’t do very much harm, and stand in it for all you are worth, facing the sunshine.”
This view ticks both these boxes and provides the basis for a great local tale, one that is connected to a literary giant, just not E M Forster. Join us to discover more! Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome
