Communicating the South Downs

Cookies

Some people find the idea of a website storing information on their computer or mobile device a bit intrusive, particularly when this information is stored and used by a third party without them knowing. Although this is generally quite harmless you may not, for example, want to see advertising that has been targeted to your interests. If you prefer, it is possible to block some or all cookies, or even to delete cookies that have already been set; but you need to be aware that you might lose some functions of that website.

Countryside Code

We want you to enjoy your visit to the South Downs and help to keep the area a special place. You can do this by following the Countryside Code.

There are 5 sections of the Code dedicated to helping members of the public respect, protect and enjoy the countryside. These are:

  1. Be safe, plan ahead and follow any signs.
  2. Leave gates and property as you find them.
  3. Protect plants and animals and take your litter home.
  4. Keep dogs under close control, especially near farm animals and during nesting season.
  5. Consider other people.

For more in depth information about the Countryside Code visit Natural England’s website.
