LEADER Overview

All of the Local Action Groups in the National Park have now launched their programmes and will run until 2020.

LEADER grant funding is part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). This aims to improve the competitiveness of farming and forestry, support a diverse and successful rural economy and help to develop vibrant and thriving rural communities.

LEADER grants can be used for projects that will support:

  • increased farm productivity
  • small business growth and farm diversification
  • rural tourism
  • rural services
  • cultural and heritage activity
  • increased forestry productivity

LEPs offer a mix of large and small grants and loans for small to medium enterprises. There are 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP’s) across England.
