Strategy Leads
South Downs National Park Authority
The South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) came into being on 1 April 2010. Its statutory purposes are to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the South Downs National Park, and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park’s special qualities by the public. The Authority is in its "shadow" year, during which preparations are being made for becoming fully operational from 1st April 2011.
We are now looking to recruit/second a team to lead and contribute to the development of the future strategy of the South Downs National Park. This work will be done with our partners and will make a major contribution to final delivery of the South Downs National Park Management Plan.
Specifically we wish to recruit individuals for the following expert areas:
Landscape
Cultural Heritage
Biodiversity
Understanding of the National Park
Access and Recreation
Rural Economy
Communities
You will have a relevant degree and/or an equivalent qualification with a number of years experience of developing partnership strategies, commissioning, analysing and applying relevant research to strategy development, evaluation and monitoring.

Member Services Officer
South Downs National Park Authority
The South Downs National Park Authority came into being on 1 April 2010. Its statutory purposes are to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the South Downs National Park, and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park’s special qualities by the public. It also has a duty to seek to promote the economic and social well being of the communities within the area. The Authority is in its "shadow" year, during which preparations are being made for becoming fully operational from 1st April 2011. The Authority comprises 27 Members – 14 appointed by local authorities within the National Park area, and 13 appointed by the Secretary of State – six from local parish councils and seven appointed through national competition.
We are now looking to recruit/second a Members Services Officer to work in a small team providing efficient and effective administrative support services for meetings of the South Downs National Park Authority, its committees and other events. You will be the first point of contact for a wide range of queries by email and telephone.
You will have experience of working with Members, preferably through a committee structure and have knowledge of the statutory requirements of official meetings including the dispatch of agendas and papers, required standing orders and rules of debate.
You will be organised, used to working to deadlines and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to work as part of a team as well as working on your own initiative is essential as is the ability to improve systems and forward planning.

The location of this role is flexible but you will be required to attend meetings or organise events across the Park.
