SDW River Ouse crossing to be closed
The bridge crossing the River Ouse that carries the South Downs Way at Southease is to be closed for up to 3 weeks the emergency safety works.

An adaptation of Hilaire Belloc's Sussex Downs-based novel, The Four Men, is being put on as part of the Chichester Festivities. The play has been part funded by the South Downs Sustainable Development Fund.
The play will be running between the 2nd and 5th July 2008, at the New Park Centre, Chichester.

A Vision for the South Downs

A new Management Plan for the South Downs has been launched by the South Downs Joint Committee (SDJC) on behalf of a range of central and local government agencies and anyone who has a passion for the South Downs. The Plan provides an overview of the issues, polices and action required to underpin the successful long-term management of this landscape. Find out more about the South Downs Management Plan.
Launch of the South Downs Icons and Eyesores Project
The South Downs Icons and Eyesores Project has been set up to help raise awareness of how cumulative landscape change impacts the South Downs landscape. At present, the pilot project is being run in the Downland parishes of Arun and Horsham districts. With the help of the local community, volunteer rangers and SDJC staff, a large number of icons and eyesores from the participating parishes have now been documented. Sustainable Development Fund up for grabs!
Its looking more than likely that the South Downs is going to have another Sustainable Development Fund this year.
Applications are being sought now from organisations, local authorities, businesses, community groups and individuals. To find out more, please use the link below.

Overhead power lines to be removed from the South downs
More than 30 Kilometres of overhead lower voltage power cables will be removed from the South Downs during 2008 and 2009. Read more.
