Sussex Produce Company wins Sussex Food and Farm Shop of the Year

The Sussex Produce Company of Steyning were named as Sussex Food and Farm Shop of the Year at the Sussex Food & Drink Awards 2011/12, announced on 26 January 2012.

The South Downs National Park were proud to sponsor the Sussex Food and Farm Shop of the year, a competitive category in the UK’s fastest growing retail sector.

Trevor Beattie, Chief Executive of the South Downs National Park, said:

“Local food and drink producers and suppliers make a real contribution to the social and economic well-being of communities within the South Downs National Park.

“These awards recognise the valuable work of these businesses, encouraging and supporting them to provide high quality, local produce and customer service. Shops such as the Sussex Produce Company prove that local businesses can work together to promote a sustainable rural economy and encourage innovation in a highly competitive market place.”

"Winning 'Sussex Food Shop of the Year' is a fantastic honour. We are open seven days a week, and everyone here puts their heart and soul into making the shop a success so it is wonderful to have it rewarded - especially when the competition was so good!

Cheese Please, Lewes, and Sharnfold Farm, Stone Cross were well deserved runners up.
