Harvey’s calendar celebrates South Downs National Park

19 Dec 2011

To celebrate the first year of the South Downs National Park, Harvey’s Brewery have created a calendar showing iconic and diverse images of the National Park. The 2012 calendar featuring famous sights such as the Seven Sisters, bustling market towns and wildlife such as the natterjack toad was launched at the Harvey’s shop in Midhurst at the heart of the National Park on Monday 19 December.

Margaret Paren, Chair of the South Downs National Park Authority, said:

“For two centuries Harvey’s have brewed beer in the South Downs and by continuing to support our farmers by using local produce they are, in turn, helping farmers to maintain the spectacular landscape captured in this calendar.”

Miles Jenner, Joint Managing Director of Harvey’s said:

“There are obvious links between Harvey’s and the South Downs National Park, we restrict supplies of our beers to a sixty mile radius of Lewes and have won many environmental awards over the years. Wherever possible we source our raw materials locally, including malting barley grown on the Norfolk Estate in Arundel.”

The company has produced its 2012 calendar in association with the new South Downs National Park Authority. The calendar highlights the diversity of the South Downs and illustrates the brewery's role in promoting and enhancing it.

Miles Jenner added:

"We are proud to be a part of the region's rich heritage and have greatly enjoyed working with the National Park Authority to promote the South Downs National Park."
